Creative use of Blogger.com
By Sean Goerss
Monday, Oct 13, 2008 04:38
My business buddy Steve Kantor, owner of Best Agent Business, is at it again - he's come up with this creative way to use what I call "target-specific" blogs.

Steve owns a company that provides virtual assistant services to real estate agents (a whole other topic we'll go into later on), so his target market is real estate agents. In this case, he's reaching out to real estate agents by gathering Halloween Real Estate marketing ideas.

The idea being, his target audience (agents) will see as a seperate, custom-made, custom-targeted blog that is NOT "salesy" but still includes links to his site - and he gets interaction from his target audience via comments and additional ideas.

What could you do as an agent? How about a Halloween blog for your local area? Now, even if you're religious views preclude Halloween (i.e. I'm a Christian), you could come up with something similar like an "Autumn Blog for Anytown, USA" or even better - a "Decision 2008 Blog for Anytown, USA".

The great part is, Steve is just using www.Blogger.com which is free and quick and easy to setup any type of blog you want. The ideas are limitless. He has gotten GREAT results at this in the past, and I'm sure you could too!

So take action, get creative, and reach your target market with a non-sales message and you might be surprised at the results!

Turning a Negative into Momentum
By Sean Goerss
Friday, Oct 03, 2008 11:43
It's not a new concept...

martial arts students use it all the time - you take what might normally be a negative "blow" and redirect the momentum AGAINST your opponent.

...only in the real estate market, your opponent is buyer and seller mentality, and the "blow", is, of course, the roller coaster of a ride on Wall Street, coupled with the overall bleak picture of the economy, brought to you by CNN, FOX, and CBNC.

So why shouldn't we do what wise men and women have done for centuries? - Let's turn this negative into some momentum!

Yes, sales are down in most markets, prices are down, days on market is up - and that's EXACTLY what should make you and your business more LEAN and MEAN. This, more than ever, is the time when you need to use technology to it's fullest.

Technology you already have and aren't using - or finding new technologies that can further decrease your expenses. It might be actually using Microsoft Outlook to cut down your time spent on email (I'm doing a class on this later next week).

Or it could be actually learning how to use Agent Office or Top Producer or whatever database you have.

And that's why we craeted this site - becuase they're a HUGE, gaping whole out there in most agent's business strategy - they might use Marketing for some leverage, they might use people for some leverage, but they're normally WAY behind the curve on leveraging technology.

So - use this time to do an assessment - take inventory - gather the troops - become a "martial arts" agent and use this negative news to start NEW MOMENTUM in your business! Trust me - 5 years from now, you'll have WAY more market share, WAY more competitive advantage, and many more satisfied customers.
